Know Whose You Are
God chose you (Ephesians 1:4-8)! You are special to Him. He says that you are royalty, a chosen people (1 Peter 2:9). Some days it is hard to remember who you are to God because your parents, children, boss, spouse, strangers, or friends yell at you, talk behind your back, tell you what you are doing wrong and not enough of what you are doing right, remind you of mistakes you made…and all of that stuff can get you down.
But know that you belong to God and that he accepts and loves you right where you are now with all of your flaws, addictions, mistakes, and blotches. God still loves you. God doesn’t expect perfection from us. He expects obedience, love, and for us to want to have a relationship with Him. He wants us to trust and have faith in Him. He wants us to come to Him without problems, aches, and pains.
Resist the urge to accept others’ expectations and opinions of you. Know that you belong to Christ and His acceptance of you is the most vital. People will criticize and be disappointed in you, regardless, but cultivate the identity you carved for yourself as a Child of God. Unveil confidence that minimizes others’ expectations, announces your unique identity in Christ, and indicates the path you choose to take here on Earth, which is to honor God with obedience, love, and faith. You are the star of your show, so shine!
