Turn Your Faith Cup Up

ChristianCartoon07Everyday we meet or talk to people who are experiencing immeasurable trials and tribulations during this leveled economy. We  encourage each other, but if we don’t have faith, the words disappear in the air.

Faith is believing in what you cannot see. I am a big advocate of positive thinking, speaking, and actions, but even to me things occasionally look bleak.

My faith has increased though. I know that obstacles come before blessings. God is preparing me for something big and beautiful. I let God know that I have faith in Him, His plan, and His promises. Christians are not impermeable to problems; instead, we are equipped to deal with problems because we believe in Him, and we know how to use the tools He’s given us. The worse things get, the more I praise God and remind Him that I have faith that He is my provider, leader, comforter, alpha, and omega.

It’s not easy. Sometimes I do see with my eyes instead of with my Spirit, but the more I pray, the less I use my eyes. But as my faith rises, I can see the abundance of grace and favor that God overtly and surreptitiously bestows on me each day. I’ve learned to appreciate the little things, and look for God’s grace and blessings in everything. I know now how I took a lot of things, including God, for granted. I don’t think that my tribulations are punishment; instead, I know that trials grow me and make me more aware. Through these trials, I’ve become more creative in solving problems, making money, and dealing with issues. I’ve had to adopt a different frame of mind  and levy the resources that are available to me. In this, I’ve discovered new interests and abilities that I had no idea were inside of me. I like to think of this time as a Renaissance.

The cartoon above from Mark at www.joyfultoons.com inspired this post because I realized that especially during this time, I must turn my cup up and fill it up with faith. I take it one day at a time.

Many blessings,

My Warfare Weapons

YodaMy Warfare Weapons

Ephesians 10:12 tells us that our battles are not against people, but against the spiritual forces of evil and against the devil’s schemes. When I am faced with a seemingly insurmountable situation, when life gets hairy, when situations seem ready to explode, when my hope waivers and doubt creeps in, when I think about worrying, I stop and hold still and remember the weapons that I have to fight against the devil’s deception.

I seek comfort and reassurance from God’s word. I also remind myself that my own words activate the angels of the Lord or the devil’s angels, so I speak positive words of life to grab the attention of the Lord’s angels: Today is going to be a great day! Many good things will happen today. I attract peace, love, and joy. I am alert, focused, productive, balanced, and not easily distracted. I am a victor in everything that I do. I have power and wisdom.

I remember that God cannot tell a lie. Isaiah 55:11 says “…so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” I say scriptures that deal with the obstacle I’m trying to go through, and when the devil tries telling me a lie, I counteract with the truth…God’s word.

I remember to trust God, as it says in Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

I remember that God already overcame the world and that I am already a victor: 2 Corinthians 2:13 “But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ…” Luke 10: 19:11 “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”

I thank God for his infinite wisdom that He planted inside of me that continues to grow and strengthen and helps me make the right choices and execute correct actions: Proverbs 2:10-12, “For wisdom will enter your heart and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you and understanding will guard you. Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse.”

I thank God for my future and stand on God’s word in Jeremiah 29:11, which says “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I thank God for His protection for in Psalm 91:11-12, God says “No harm will befall you. No disaster will come near your tent, for God commands His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their hands so that you do not strike your foot against a stone.”

I thank God for being my provider, for providing me with seed to sow, as His word says in 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

I thank God for peace and joy: John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

I thank God for His power and greatness: Luke 18:27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”

He said it. I believe it. That settles it!

I’d love to hear what your Warfare Weapons are. Share them with me.
